REFX Privacy Policy

REFX is an aviation safety awareness app for pilots. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, and how you can request deletion.

Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Device identifier — a randomly generated ID created on your device and stored both locally and in our cloud database. It is not intentionally linked by us to your name, email, or other direct identifiers. It is used to save your preferences and reading history.
• Push notification token — used to deliver daily aviation safety content to your device. Notifications are sent via Expo's push notification service. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
• Profile preferences — aircraft type, certificate level, and total flight hours, if you choose to enter them. This is entirely optional and used only to personalize content shown to you.
• Reading history — cases you have read or saved, used to avoid showing content you have already read.

What We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your name or email address for account creation.
• If you subscribe, your purchase is processed entirely by Apple and subject to Apple's privacy policy. We receive only a pseudonymous subscriber token — not your payment details, name, or Apple ID.
• We do not track your location.
• We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.
• We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

Data Storage

Your preferences and reading history are stored in Supabase, a cloud database provider. Data is associated with your pseudonymous device identifier only. Access to the database is restricted to authorized application services and is protected using access controls and encryption in transit.

If you are located outside the United States, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

Data Retention

We retain your device identifier, preferences, and reading history for as long as you use the app. If you have not used the app for 24 months, we may delete your stored data. You may also request deletion at any time (see below).

Your Rights and Data Deletion

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including rights of access, correction, and deletion. For example, residents of California may have rights under the CCPA, and individuals in the European Economic Area may have rights under the GDPR.

To request deletion of your stored data — including your device identifier, preferences, and reading history — contact us at [email protected]. We will process your request within 30 days.

Push Notifications

We send daily push notifications containing aviation safety content. Delivery is handled by Expo's push notification service, which processes push tokens as part of its normal operation. You can opt out at any time through your device's notification settings.

Support Contact

If you contact us by email for support, we will use your email address only to respond to your inquiry. We do not add support contacts to any mailing list or retain them beyond the resolution of your inquiry.

Children's Privacy

REFX is intended for adults, including licensed pilots and aviation students of legal age. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 years of age. If you believe a minor has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will update the effective date above when material changes are made.
